Why CalcPCOS exists

Most nutrition calculators treat every user the same. You enter your height, weight, and activity level, and you get a calorie number and a 33/33/33 macro split. The calculation doesn't know whether you have insulin resistance. It doesn't account for slower metabolic rate. It doesn't adjust carbohydrate targets for PCOS. It doesn't tell you what your HOMA-IR score means for your diet, or how Metformin affects weight loss timelines, or what body fat percentage is associated with better hormonal outcomes for PCOS specifically.

We built CalcPCOS because those details matter — and because people with PCOS deserve tools that reflect their actual physiology, not an average that was never designed to include them.

Every calculator on CalcPCOS is built from published clinical formulas, peer-reviewed research, and where relevant, guidance from professional bodies in endocrinology and nutrition. We document the methodology for each tool and are transparent about where estimates are approximations rather than exact values.

Every calculation uses a named, published formula — Mifflin-St Jeor for BMR, HOMA-IR for insulin resistance, US Navy circumference method for body fat. We tell you what we're calculating and why.
